Regulations

Statewide seasons and bag limits for the 2026–27 season

How to read this page

These are the seasons and bag limits Texas Parks & Wildlife publishes statewide, shown for a hunter with a standard adult licence. Species that share one rule set appear together — that is how TPWD itself regulates them — and every species name links to its page.

This digest is not the whole rulebook. Youth-only, veteran and falconry seasons run alongside these; deer, turkey and dove dates vary county by county; and licences, endorsements, legal means and tagging carry their own rules. For all of it, the Texas Outdoor Annual (tpwd.texas.gov) is the authority.

On the public land this site covers, a property's own rules take precedence — more restrictive dates, permits and quotas are the norm. Check the property page for anywhere you plan to hunt.
