About Scimitar-horned Oryx
Scimitar-horned oryx are native to North Africa, though the species was declared extinct in the wild in the early 2000s after overhunting and habitat loss caught up with it. It survives today entirely through managed conservation herds, including populations raised on ranches well outside its native range — some of which have gone on to contribute animals back to reintroduction efforts in Africa.
