Eighteen scattered units along the Lower Rio Grande in Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties. The cover is Tamaulipan thornscrub — dense, low and thorny — broken up by grassland, old farmland and wetland, and most of the work here goes into bringing that thornscrub back.
