Hagerman NWR

Montague County, Texas

  • Annual Public Hunting Permit
  • Limited Draw Hunt

About this property

Not the refuge on Lake Texoma: this is Hagerman's Nocona Unit, 822 acres of detached upland in Montague County some sixty miles west of the main refuge, reached on foot or by bicycle from Kirby Road. The refuge dates from 1946 and exists for the geese and ducks on Texoma; the Nocona ground is Cross Timbers post oak and prairie, deer and turkey country rather than waterfowl water.
